Torres – Walking Alone Since January 2011

Torres - Walking Alone Since January 2011Few years back, Fernando Torres was regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, now the Spanish international is no more than a fallen star. Having left Liverpool in January 2011, it seems that Torres has walked alone since. His time at Chelsea thus far has been horrific to say the least.
Torres might have won his first club trophies with the London side but his contribution in achieving those prizes was minimal. The former Atletico Madrid player failed in the Blues system and thus failed every manager who eventually departed.
In came Rafa Benitez to somehow revive him back, but the Torres of old is nowhere to be found. One odd good performance and then he returns to his anonymous figure again. Chelsea fans, who by no means are as patient as compared to the merseysiders, still they backed him for quite some time during his average tenure but finally have lost the patience.
Torres is the worst you will find when it comes to competition. Knowing that he will be substituted if he plays bad only worsens his performance. That wasn’t the case at Liverpool where he was “the star” all the time. The dream debut of Demba Ba has only ruined the scenario, the look on his face when Ba scored his second said it all.

Fernando Torres Liverpool Chelsea

Under Benitez, he did lose the fear of competition for some time and that helped but the arrival of Ba has refreshed the fears. Now, the blues fans can no longer tolerate any nonsense from Torres on the field at the expense of Demba Ba sitting on the bench as happened against Swansea in the league cup. The chants and Boos from your own supporters cannot be pleasing for him but that has been the summary of his Chelsea career thus far, full of criticism.
The knee injury meant he lost his first five yards of searing pace that helped him beat defenders with ease but that wasn’t the only part of his game. Lethal finishing with the killer instinct that defenders feared and brilliant touch, all lost somewhere in Liverpool.
Perhaps Torres never mentally accepted Chelsea the way he was attached with Liverpool. Although reports in the media suggest that Torres tells his Blues team mates he wants to return, well he does not have to say a word. The sulking look on his face for majority of his Chelsea tenure could easily explain how much he missed/misses Liverpool. For now, any return back to Merseyside seems unlikely as Torres mourns and walks alone.

agree though…. it is nothing to do with the coach ONLY gerard/alonso can revive him. As I said, everyone needs
a second chance…PROVIDED the price is right

  4. Tim says:

I’d love to see him back at Anfield. Maybe he should put in a transfer request on the last day of the window & hope that Brendan & Fenway oblige? Even bringing Rafa in to help him out hasn’t worked so maybe it’s a really bad case of homesickness? It’ll probably never happen but I can dream of him back in his red, blue never suited him lol, partnering Suarez & scaring the hell out of Vidic & Ferdinand again.
    Torres YNWA.

    • Raul says:

I agree and have said all along that he doesn’t belong in blue. People forget that he was arguably the world’s best striker for a long time at Liverpool. Come back Fernando, dye your hair blonde again and for God’s sake smile 😉

The only way I’d have him back is if he bought out his contract with Chelsea so it wouldn’t cost Liverpool a penny.
