Spurs Frustrated By Queens Park Rangers

Spurs Frustrated By Queens Park RangersTottenham were favorites going into the fixture against the bottom placed side Queens Park Rangers, but were frustrated largely as the game ended in a draw. QPR on the other hand, earned a vital point to boost their chances of surviving relegation from the premier league.
Spurs controlled the game for most part but did not have that cutting edge to see off QPR. For worst, they might have conceded on the counter had QPR taken their opportunities.
Despite having 62% possession and 18 shots on goal (7 on target), Tottenham failed to capitalize on the chances against a determined QPR defense and above all their fantastic goalie Julio Cesar. The former Inter Milan star was undoubtedly the man of the match on the day. He made a wonderful double save in the opening minutes of the game to deny Jermain Defoe and Adebayor.
AVB had to make an early change in the first half as Sandro left the field injured and Scott Parker replaced him. However, Spurs continued with their attacking intent but to no end product.
QPR fashioned some chances of their own, as Adel Taarabt and Shaun Wright Philips combined on several occasions. The home side had 4 attempts on goal, but none of them hit the target. Wright Philips was at the end of three decent chances but failed in making any of them count.
Defoe kept the pressure on opponents defense, earned a free kick in the opening minutes of the second half but Bale’s attempt was kept out by Cesar.  The spurs forward worked again to somehow create space to shoot but the Brazilian goalie denied him with his legs.
In the 67th minute Defoe’s crafty flick created space for Emmanuel Adebayor who failed in taking any advantage of it much to the despair of Spurs manager who then substituted the disappointing striker for Clint Dempsey.
QPR had every one behind the ball in the final ten minutes and their resilient defense paid dividends as the home side survived any late surge from the Tottenham and the game finished stalemate. Redknapp was more than delighted with 0-0 draw against his former side.
