Manchester United look to strengthen their position at the top of the premier league with a win against Aston Villa tomorrow. Having won last two premier league outings against rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, the Red Devils will be confident to take all three points from this game. Adding to that, United have been unbeaten in the last 17 visits at Villa Park.
The struggling Paul Lambert’s team who sit one place above the relegation zone were lifted thanks to a win last weekend against Sunderland and will look to gain something from the fixture. Their only win in the league against Ferguson’s men came in 2009 when Agbonlahor scored the winner silencing the Old Trafford crowd.
Agbonlahor scored his first league goal in just under a year, last weeked in a run stretching 29 games. He is fit and looks set to start tomorrow in the absence of lead striker Darren Bent who is ruled out with an ankle injury. Moreover, N’zogbia and Dunne will not be available for selection with knee and groin injuries respectively.
Probable Starting XI: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Stevens, Weimann, Delph, El Ahmadi, Bannan, Agbonlahor, Benteke
Red Devils still have certain injury concerns that will keep few star names out. Knee injuries have been haunting United’s squad as Vidic, Jones and Kagawa remain sidelined because of it. Smalling made his return in the midweek Champions League win over Braga and might be starting against Villa if Evans is unable to recover from his groin strain.
Although United have scored the highest number of goals in the league this season but their defensive record has not been quite up to the mark. Devils have only completed two shut outs this season and Aston Villa have the same number of clean sheets as well.
Star striker and leading scorer Robin van Persie came off the bench during midweek but looks certain to start tomorrow. Young, Carrick and Cleverly did not feature on Wednesday and will probably feature in the starting lineup as well.
Probable Starting XI: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Valencia, Young, Rooney Van Persie
