Liverpool Dismantled Norwich to Register First League Win

Liverpool Dismantled Norwich to Register First League WinBrendan Rodgers finally tasted the first premier league victory with Liverpool as the reds dismantled struggling Norwich at Carrow road. Uruguayan strker, Luis Suarez scored yet another hat-trick at Carrow Road leaving Chris Hughton’s side still without a win this season.
Luis Suarez gave the lead for visitors just inside 67 seconds after the start then scored the second just before half time to make it 2-0. Uruguayan, then completed the hat-trick within 12 minutes of the restart and also assisted Turkish Midfielder, Nuri Sahin to register his first premier league goal. Steve Morison and Grant Holt scored consolations for canaries on either sides of Gerrard’s deflected free-kick.
Luis Suarez scored his second hat-trick in two consecutive visits at Carrow road, but his contribution on the day was not just limited with the goals. He tormented Norwich’s defense all day and created chance after chance against them.
Hughton just made a single change in his starting line-up from last week outing, where Wes Hoolahan gave the way for Simeon Jackson, while Rodgers made three changes from the team which lost against Manchester United last weekend. Nuri Sahin and Suso were recalled to play in the place of suspended Jonjo Shelvey and ineffective Fabio Borini and Andre Wisdom made his first premier league debut in the place of injured, Martin Kelly at right back.
It was the visitors who got off to the perfect start, and they scored their first goal inside 67 seconds on their first attempt on goal. The ball found Suarez after the intervention from Michael Turner just near the edge of the penalty box and the Uruguayan made an excellent finish to find the left bottom corner of the goal after the smart first touch.
In the 8th minute of the game, Norwich had their first chance of the game to score but Reina made a fine save off long range Jackson’s effort. 14 minutes later, Luis Suarez was denied a penalty, where video replays clearly showed Barnett’s challenge on the Uruguayan striker was harsh.
It was Jackson, once again who missed a golden opportunity to score on a volley inside the penalty box on 30 minutes, but his shot went well over the bar. On 38 minutes, Luis Suarez doubled the lead for visitors by collecting the ball from Turner and bent into the fine finish, just after missing one-on-one moments with Ruddy earlier.
Norwich should have easily pulled one back within a minute of the restart, where Andrew Surman’s shot on goal was scooped over the bar by his own team mate, Robert Snodgrass. A minute later, Norwich had paid for their wasted chance. Suarez’s pass to Sterling inside the penalty box was blocked by Barnett, but the block was not quite enough to go beyond Suarez. This time, it was Sahin, who stood in the perfect position to collect Suarez’s ball and his left foot shot had found the nets to treble the lead of visitors.
10 minutes after Sahin’s first premier league goal, it was about to Suarez to celebrate his second hat-trick at Carrow Road. Collecting the ball from Sahin near the left edge of the penalty box, he cut the ball to his right and delivered a fine shot to reach the right corner of the goal.
On an hour mark, Morison did pull one back for the hosts as Reina failed to hold Snodgrass’s strike. The bounced ball from Reina’s hand found Morison and the Wales striker finished it off excellently with a fine half volley.
8 minutes later, Liverpool restored their 4-goal lead as their captain scored from the deflected long range effort. Sterling’s low ball had found Gerrard outside the penalty box and the captain’s strike on goal was heavily deflected to find the nets. In the 72nd minute, Suarez should have added the 6th for the visitors, but his shot had found the post.
Liverpool dominated the possession for the remainder of match, but it was Grant Holt who took advantage on Skrtel’s miscue and his last shot on target made the scoreline 2-5.
