Dzeko Not Versatile Enough and Must Leave Manchester City

Dzeko Not Versatile Enough and Must Leave Manchester CityRoberto Mancini, on signing Edin Dzeko, considered him as a player who can “make the difference”. 18 months later, the Bosnian striker finds himself in a complex scenario. Dzeko was signed for a heavy fee of £27 million i.e. sixth highest transfer figure in the premier league, still he might have to depart the club in search of first team football.
After a stuttering start to his City career, scoring only 2 goals in 15 league appearances, Mancini bought Aguero to make amends. Although Dzeko did hit form starting last year’s campaign scoring goals for fun but as the season progressed, he lost his scoring touch. Adding to that Aguero kept on flying high and Mario Balotelli announced himself to the premier league with stunning performances that pushed Dzeko out of starting lineup. In came tireless Carlos Tevez and the Bosnian not only found himself regularly on the bench but even did not play any part in certain games as well.
Dzeko had 28 league outings last season and was City’s second highest scorer behind Aguero. The stats show he is not a bad finisher, then why was he kept out of the starting lineup? A forward is supposed to score goals, that he does but because he is limited and just not versatile enough than his strike partners at the club, he is dropped more often. Aguero, Balotelli, and Tevez are good finishers as well, but not just that, they create a lot chances, are versatile and have got so much more in the locker that Dzeko lacks.

Edin Dzeko City Bench

Aguero turns into a speed demen with his quick feet, his ability to dribble past defenders, link with the midfielders and the emphatic finishing makes him that lethal weapon. Balotelli is amongst the best young talents. Although a hot headed player, he is capable of producing something out of absolute nothing. Adding to that he can be shifted to a wider role as well. Lastly Carlos Tevez works his socks off for the team, creating chances and helping his team mates with the determination of highest order. The Argentine is someone who never stops and was influential in reviving Manchester City to win the premier league crown.
Dzeko is the kind of striker who normally stays inside the box waiting for the ball to be dispatched in the net, who by all means is useful considering the amount of talent City have around him. Still his lack of versatility does not favor him when a manager has so many world class players to choose from. Few days back, he claimed that a bench role will be unacceptable. His potential and quality cannot be denied but perhaps for first team football, the best possible option for Dzeko is to leave Manchester City.

I agree… but just one part of this statement is right. He don’t fit in the system of City with his slefish players like, Agüero, Tevez, Nasri! But I think Mancini was the one how wanted to play along the channels to create chances. He told us in 1000 interviews. But they dont play like that. I think Dzeko should leave City… outherwise it would be a waste of his talent! I like him very much. Know him from his start of the German Bundesliga. But when City doesnt wants him to stay the they should let him go. He’s not happy at City and you see it when you look in his eyes. Let him go to AC Milan and he will be happy again.

really strange article. first of all, a good striker has to play all the time to have his scoring touch, right?
now, he had great start of the season and was 1st striker of the league, but after scoring 4 goals against spurs, next two games he started as a replacement. is this normal?
i think mancini system is totaly wrong, the team plays on talent none of the lines are cooperating. whole concept is based on silva, and yaya… if they would be injured, team could not produce success against 2nd division teams…
none of the other strikers works as much for the team as dzeko does. besides, tevez and aguero are selfish… and baloteli is idiot.
for me dzeko should be 1st choice, but since he wont be within mancini, he really should leave.
